St Eustatius National Parks Foundation (STENAPA), a nonprofit nature management organization based on St Eustatius, a public entity within the Netherlands, is seeking an education and outreach officer.

Overview of tasks:

The Education and Outreach Officer will be working with different target groups of STENAPA: children, adults, and the government. The new colleague is responsible for the in-school nature education program as well as the after-school nature education program (junior rangers/snorkel club) and summer club. Apart from that, he or she is responsible for the external communication, such as developing an awareness campaign, radio presence, developing engaging content (photos, stories, video), press relations, reception, management of the souvenir store, website, and social media.

– Three years’ experience in teaching and/or communication and/or journalism

– In-depth knowledge about nature conservation both marine and terrestrial

– Research Masters in Environmental Science, or similar

– Strong communication skills (written and oral). Fluency in English. Dutch and Spanish is an advantage

– Strong understanding of the value of building relations and keeping up a dialogue with different stake-holder groups

– Ability to translate complex information for a general audience

– Experience in planning and organizing small and large PR activities, campaigns

– Knowledge of governmental processes

– A self-starter and able to choose priorities

– Used to work with small budgets

– Proficient in Adobe Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign and Lightroom

– Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint

– Applicants must have a manual driver’s license and PADI Advanced Dive certification or similar
