Sint Eustatius National Parks Foundation (STENAPA) is currently accepting applications for the position of Marine Park Ranger. STENAPA is a small nature conservation foundation on the island of Sint Eustatius, in the Caribbean Netherlands. As the Marine Park Ranger, your work will be focused on the Marine Park, but you will also spend some time training and working in the island’s Terrestrial Parks. Within the Marine Park, your main duties will include maintenance of dive sites, species and habitat monitoring, invasive species management, marine patrols and enforcement, data entry, basic data analysis, report writing, and supervising volunteers. Within this role it is essential that you can work hands on in the field, often in harsh environmental conditions. We are looking for a motivated team player who fulfills the following criteria.


Relevant completed B.Sc. or M.Sc. education in biology / coastal management / related fields or equivalent experience;
Experience in monitoring of marine species;
Familiar with Caribbean marine fauna and flora;
Fluent in English;
Driving License B;
Scuba diving certificate (minimum PADI advanced or equivalent);
A willingness to follow a BavPol training course;
VHF radio certificate (or willing to train);
First Aid certification (or willing to train)

Knowledge and skills

Knowledge of and experience working with boats at sea;
Proficiency in performing deck duties onboard a vessel;
Excellent communication skills both written and oral;
Good physical condition;
Knowledge of and experience with data entry and basic data analysis;
Flexibility and a willingness to work irregular hours, both during the week and at weekends;
A good command of MS Office, especially Word and Excel.

Sint Eustatius is a small (10 sq. miles, 26 sq km. pop 3,250) island in Eastern Caribbean. STENAPA is responsible for the management of the National Parks Boven/Quill, the Marine Park and the Botanical Garden.
